Mangiferin ameliorates cardiac fibrosis in D-galactose-induced aging rats by inhibiting TGF-β/p38/MK2 signaling pathway

Aging is the process spontaneously occurred in living organisms. Cardiac fibrosis a pathophysiological of cardiac aging. Mangiferin well-known C-glucoside xanthone mango leaves with lots beneficial properties. In this study, rat model was induced by injected 150 mg/kg/d D-galactose for 8 weeks. The age-related decline estimated detecting relative weight heart, serum levels injury indicators and expression hypertrophic biomakers. oxidative stress local inflammation were measured malondialdehyde, enzymatic antioxidant status proinflammatory cytokines. evaluated observing collagen deposition via masson sirius red staining, as well examining extracellular matrix proteins Western blot analysis. activity profibrotic TGF-β1/p38/MK2 signaling pathway assessed measuring TGF-β1 phosphorylation p38 MK2. It observed that mangiferin ameliorated D-galactose-induced aging, attenuated stress, fibrosis, inhibited activation pathway. These results showed could ameliorate aging rats possibly inhibiting TGF-β/p38/MK2
